Calgary Parks Plan

Calgary Launches 20-Year Plan for Parks and Open Spaces

Community Engagement Sought for Connect Calgary's Parks Plan

Calgarians Invited to Shape the Future of their Parks

The City of Calgary has embarked on a comprehensive planning process to develop a 20-year vision for the city's parks and open spaces. The Connect Calgary's Parks Plan will guide the acquisition, development, and use of these vital assets over the coming decades.

Calgary boasts an impressive network of over 2,000 community parks, 500 playfields, and 9 golf courses. These spaces provide countless opportunities for recreation, socialization, and environmental stewardship. However, the city recognizes the need for a long-term plan to ensure that these assets meet the evolving needs of a rapidly growing and diverse population.

The Connect Calgary's Parks Plan will address a wide range of issues, including park accessibility, equity, environmental sustainability, and public safety. The city is actively seeking public input to inform the plan's development. Calgarians are encouraged to participate in online surveys, attend community workshops, and share their ideas through various platforms.

By 2024, the City of Calgary aims to present the Connect Calgary's Parks Plan to City Council for approval. The plan will provide a roadmap for the future of Calgary's parks and open spaces, ensuring that these vital assets continue to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
